Horton Hatches the EGG on Your iPad

I treated my daughter and granddaughter to the theater Friday night. We saw the Dr. Seuss musical “Seussical!” Since Alexis is only 3-1/2 I made sure to have front row seats and right next to the stage stairs the characters used to interact with the audience. It was an amazing experience for Alexis! A grand night was had by all!
Seussical is a combination of a few of Dr. Seuss’s wonderful stories; The Cat in the Hat, Horton Hears a Who AND the focus of this article,  Horton Hatches the Egg. Now that story is available on your iPad via Oceanhouse [...]

Grab the Dinosaur Train Camera Catch App

PBS has brought a fun new game to your camera-enabled iOS devices! It’s called  Dinosaur Train Camera Catch by PBS Kids and watch out because it teaches as your child is having fun capturing birds on “film!”

As you can see the game is simple, yet it is teaching your child pattern recognition, something that educators agree children need to learn. Pattern recognition aids your child in learning to read, which precipitates just about all the learning they will do in their early years. Many times schools will use pattern recognition to determine whether your child is even ready for school.
The [...]

All Aboard for a New PBS App!

Pinpoint your exercises with iMuscle app for iPads!
All Aboard the Dinosaur Train! by PBS Kids is an iPad app that kids enjoy regardless if they watch the television show it is patterned after. Dinosaur Train is a very popular children’s show and the app will be every bit as popular.

This video pretty much shows you how the Dinosaur Train game is played. Your child looks at the car that opens, it’s configuration, shape and size and decides which of the dinosaurs roaming the train platform will best fit. What the video does not show you is that if they choose [...]

We like that the words are highlighted as the narrator reads the book. We would have [...]

Oh Say Can You Say Di-no-saur?

Everyone loves the Cat in the Hat! So what can he do to get better than that? Oops, sorry, occupational hazard of listening to too many Dr. Seuss rhymes! LOL, but is there ever such a thing as too many? Especially when coupled with great educational apps? Dr. Seuss educational apps? Sure! Didn’t you read our review of “There’s No Place Like Space?”  If you did you would already know that Oceanhouse Media has managed to take the best of Dr. Seuss’s Cat in the Hat and meld it with a great leaning tool that kids love to use!
This time [...]

Treat Your Kids to TWO Big Truck Stories!

We have found two PicPocket ebooks that are sure to be a hit with kids that love big trucks and equipment!  Both feature trucks that rumble when your child taps on them along with a great moral for the story.
Each ebook is beatifully, if sparingly illustrated to keep the focus on the story and not distractions.  We do like that the words highlight as the narrator reads the story to your child. This helps kids learn to associate the written with the spoken word and helps them get ready to read. However both the audio and highlighting of words can [...]

A Look at Pirate Trio Apps

A little over a week ago we introduced you to an app called Shapes & Puzzles by a developer called Pirate Trio. We were impressed enough by that app that we asked if we could please see more of their apps.
Today we take a look at two more of the Pirate Trio apps, Love to Count and Love to Read.

While both are geared to children as young as four we found that we favored the interactive learning of Love to Count over the other app. As you can see in the video the child enjoys playing with the counting app and [...]
