If you love Italian food as much as I do you can never get enough and an occasional night out at Sapori’s Ristorante Italiano, our favorite local Sicilian restaurant, is never going to sate my insatiable appetite!
So when I found the new Cook Italian app for iPads developed by CulinartMedia for iCook2day I just had to have it! This is an authentic Italian cookbook! I knew that immediately when I saw Campari and Orange as one of the beverages! Limoncello I love and would expect but no one usually knows Campari, and I often get odd looks when ordering it, but [...]

Marge "MaggieB" Burkell …how to protect your child from YouTube content!
This time of year it seems that everyone is eyeing up the calendar and counting the days until we have to show more body in skimpier summer clothes and swimsuits.
With one eye on the calendar and the other on the scale we start to wonder what we might do and where we can make the most impact with our workouts.
If you’re at that point take a look at iMuscle by 3D4Medical.com, LLC, an iPad app that helps you pinpoint your exercise routines specifically for certain muscles.
iMuscle was named the best of iPad Medical category [...]
Learn Crafts on Your iPad
March 15th, 2012
Marge "MaggieB" Burkell A couple weeks ago we reviewed a great craft app for iPads that allowed you to keep track of your knitting and crochet, called Knit Counter Pro. We discovered that Technical Made Easy, the developer of that app, has more craft oriented apps that are well worth your looking at. So today we are taking a look at HandiCraft.
HandiCraft, for about the same price of a magazine, brings you all the basics of not one, but four different crafts; Quilting, Knitting, Crochet and Embroidery.
We took a stroll through each of the four sections included within the app. It’s a large [...]
Sporting & Hobby Apps for iPads
March 14th, 2012
Marge "MaggieB" Burkell
Many of you may be familiar with the name Selectsoft as a developer of gaming apps. We recently learned that they also have other lines of apps, including ones that deal with sports and hobbies. We were given the opportunity to test out two such apps; Fencing for Fun and Sport Fishing Guide.
We found both apps we tested to be of high quality, something one expects from Selectsoft and we were not disappointed. Each chapter is headed by a very well made video on top of the text that gives all the major points included in [...]
Keep TRACK of Your Knitting & Crochet w/an App for iPads!
February 22nd, 2012
Marge "MaggieB" Burkell Tired of trying to keep track of rows, repeats and stitches in your knitting and crocheting? I know I used to rely on my old method of printing a copy of the pattern and marking it up as I went along. I would have to have the paper sitting out with a pen every time I pulled out my needlework. It was always flying off somewhere and I was always forgetting if I took the time to cross off a row or stitch. I tried manual stitch counters too, they just weren’t for me.
Then I found Knit Counter Pro by Technical [...]
FOOD52 Recipe & Survival Guide
January 11th, 2012
Marge "MaggieB" Burkell Tweet
During the Christmas holidays I clued our Facebook and Twitter users into an app called FOOD52 Holiday Recipe & Survival Guide. I also promised that given more time we would do a full review. I promised that because we do not feel that this app is holiday specific and is a great addition to you iPad library any time of the year.
FOOD52 Holiday Recipe & Survival Guide gives you, especially if you like to entertain, a plethora of information in every method available for your iPad, and they do it well. It is [...]
The Professional Chef is Your Cooking Bible
November 3rd, 2011
Marge "MaggieB" Burkell I spent a few hours last night quietly “flipping” through a brand new iPad app called The Professional Chef by the Culinary Institute of America. To call this ebook, available through the Inkling platform, a cookbook is equivalent to calling the Queen Elizabeth II a rowboat. Named one of the five favorite culinary books of this decade by Food Arts magazine, The Professional Chef is the classic kitchen reference that many of America’s top chefs have used to understand basic skills and standards for quality as well as develop a sense of how cooking works.
Offering content from the ground up this app explores every avenue [...]
COCKTAILS HD + HALLOWEEN for Libations & MORE!

Marge "MaggieB" Burkell … an Apps for iPads Review!
I always love it when I am pleasantly surprised by an iPad app and it delivers far more than I was expecting! COCKTAILS HD + HALLOWEEN, by Pocket Cocktails Inc. is just such an app.
This iPad app caught my attention as a Halloween app, but a quick look at the screenshot above will tell you it is Halloween, every other holiday and so much more! I wasn’t prepared for the recipes, the full directory of information and how they put it all together in an app that we, and you, will use every week of the year!
Stick [...]
Dream of Italy in This Rome App for iPads!
October 19th, 2011
Marge "MaggieB" Burkell …an Apps for iPads Review!
If there is one place in the world I love to travel it is Italy. In 2007 and 2008 we were lucky enough to spend about three weeks investigating the region between Florence to the north and Rome to the south. Staying in a 350 year old monastery turned villa in the heart of Tuscany we ventured out every day to see breathtaking vistas. Being from the United States I will never forget the first time we rounded a curve in Italy to behold a spectacular CASTLE! We don’t have castles in the U.S.! On our first [...]
