...an Apps for iPads Review!
Kids love emulating their big brothers, sisters and parents, and that goes for playing games on their iPad too. When you can combine playing games with learning the essential skills they need for school you know you have a winner. Serious Games Interactive has done just that with two of their apps, Trunky Learns Letters and Trunky Learns Numbers.
Trunky is, predictably, a cute little elephant that your child easily guides through a forest path, where they find the items they need to collect; letters to spell the word displayed at the bottom of the screen or the number that completes the math problem.
Stick with us to meet Trunky himself and find out more about each of these simple yet enchanting apps that are the perfect mix of learning and play.
Each of these two apps gives your child a total of four levels of play; Beginner, Easy, Normal and Hard, affording a long life of playtime activity. In each game they gain bonus points by collecting flowers and avoiding the enemy along the way.
In Trunky Learns Letters any one of 200+ Dolch words pops up on the screen and your child guides the elephant to collect the letters included in that word. Dolch words are 220 words that include the most frequently used words in the English language and have been compiled based on words used in children’s reading books. This helps your child to prepare to read and recognize these simple yet essential words on sight, which is required in most schools by the third grade.
Trunky Apps Feature:
- Four difficulty levels to keep kids engaged
- More than 200 words based on Dolch words or 200+ math problems
- Lots of positive feedback
- Friendly and easy to use for kids
- High-score build in
