starring in their very own iPad App!
Elmer and Rose is a wonderful storybook app for children that is compatible with both your iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. The book, written by David McKee, brightly illustrated, and the app, by Oceanhouse Media, brings the silly elephants to life.
This short, simple story will intrigue your toddlers and teach them that “unique” is truly in the eyes of the beholder. It presents a “unique” opportunity for parents to interact with their child, teaching them a valuable lesson while enjoying the story, which on the outside is indeed pretty simple.
Stay with us after the break to learn more about Elmer and Rose.
Whoever heard of a patchwork elephant? Who, for that fact has ever seen a pink one that gets even pinker when she blushes?
Rose, aptly named since she is a bright shade of purely sensational pink, is lost and Elmer, along with his cousin Wilbur help her find her way back to her family, the herd.
Join them as they walk and frolic through the jungle. Interactive elements along the way will tell your child what they are pointing at and the associated word that describes it. They can opt, as they get older, to read the book themselves rather than have the narrator read it to them, but don’t worry, if they get stuck they can always tap the text for help!
As with many Oceanhouse Media storybooks your child can read the book in any of three ways:
”Read to Me” — listen to the narrated story with words highlighted as they are read- ”Read it Myself” — read the book in its traditional form
- ”Auto Play” — plays like a movie, automatically reading and turning pages. Great for younger children!
- Picture / Word association — words zoom up and are spoken when pictures are touched
- Professional audio narration
- Custom background audio for each scene
- Pages pan & zoom to accentuate the beautiful artwork of David McKee
- This ‘Universal App’ is optimized for Retina displays and the iPad
