...Get Organized - How to get Organized for School
The typical college student might be surprised to discover that there’s more to tablets than addicting puzzle games, music apps, and eBook versions of their favorite novels. The tablet is an endlessly useful tool for college students in particular because there are so many apps designed with higher education in mind. The tablet is doing more to reshape the education landscape than any other piece of mobile technology today, and much of that good work is being done through high quality apps.
Let’s take a look at four worthwhile apps perfect for any college student with a tablet. If you’re a student or an educator, you’d do well to check any of these apps out!
Edmodo
Edmodo is an app that allows students and educators to build a tight-knit online community around their classes. Think of Edmodo like a closed-circuit version of Facebook for high school or college. A teacher sets up a group for their class through Edmodo, and students who join the group can then interact with each other without worrying about outside interference. Students can upload videos, text, and photos that relate to their classes or to contribute to some sort of group online project. If you want to build an online community in your college classes, then Edmodo is the app for you.
CamScanner
CamScanner is a strictly utilitarian app designed for capturing images on your tablet and turned them into PDF files—nothing more, nothing less. This might seem like too simple of an app to warrant space on your tablet, but consider its usefulness. What if you’re in the library and you come across a page in a book that you want to remember? Just snap a picture of it with your tablet, and then convert that pic to a PDF file for later reference. You can also tag photos and files so they never get mixed up among your other pictures. Presto!
Evernote
How can I talk about apps for college students and not mention Evernote? The universally acclaimed organization app has so much to offer to the typical college student. It’s nifty scheduling features allow you to keep track of impending assignment deadlines, class times, and other to-do items that you need to remember. It’s intuitive and simple note features allow you to take class notes, make mental notes, and jot down just about anything that comes to your mind. Evernote will categorize and store away all your information so you don’t have to worry about keeping track of it all. And best of all, the app is completely free!
Bigwords
Move over, Chegg, there’s a new bargain priced textbook retailing service in town. Meet Bigwords, a service that helps college students find the best prices on any type of book they can think of, textbooks included. Bigwords can save people hundreds of dollars on books that they can obtain used through a variety of sources, from discount online retailers to small bookstores across the country. Simply look for your book by author name, title, or ISBN number and Bigwords will present you with a number of titles, most of which will be cheaper than you could find at any college bookstore.
